Re: An interesting single bearing quill mod

When installing bearings, I always put them in the freezer first, the slight contraction makes them slide into place with a few taps with a hammer.

Re: Need idler wheel for strip sander

I inquired about getting a third wheel from shopsmith from the previous owner, they said $80. Here is a better idea from mygrowthrings.com.

Re: My take on SS shelf

I like to get a peek in peoples shops to see what good ideas I can glee. Here is my 2x12 shelf and wire rack on the shorty. Also the down draft box on the shorty for the drum sander works great no need to go to drill press mode for dust collection.

Re: Bandsaw upgrade

My solution for dust falling out the bottom of the bandsaw is duck tape stuck one piece on the inside and one on the outside sticking to itself it works ...

Re: Lathe tool rest arm cracked

My guess would be overtightening with the ratchet handle, with a set screw in the ShopSmith Allen wrench you'll never get anywhere near as much torque as you can with the ratchet handle

Re: Mark V double wide extension table

Mounting the wire shelf couldn't be any simpler. I used four 2 inch machine screws not bolts machine screws are threaded all the way, Bolt them to the legs and lay the wire shelf on top.
The two extension tables together I used masking tape to mark the holes, drill your first table with an 8th inch ...

I thought someone might find this useful, I squared the edges with my 50 grit conical Disksander and bolted them together.
