Kris, to be clear, you got the Shopsmith for $100 and you paid Battels $37 to diagnose and replace the start capacitor? If so, looks like the you still owe the machine. :D Maybe you should buy it the 520 upgrade or something else nice. ]

guess that "motor shop" was more of an appliance repair place... good guys dont get me wrong, they tested electric, everything was spot on and looked great, he checked the centrifugal contacts, they looked great...capacitor checked out too... but he said too seemed like motor didn't want to get up ...

thanks for the tips. chisel marks will be done first thing! but i dont think im gonna open her up myself... motor shop 2 mins away and at the price i got this thing... paying a pro to pop it open and to check it out is fine with me... i check'd other threads and did everything recommended up until ...

Okay so i bought it!!! its in really good condition, minus the humming motor... and it has the PRO fence system and it is a 1987, (after checkin serial)
So i have watched a couple vids and read the manual on cleaning and general TLC... gave a couple of drops of oil in the rights spots... lubed all ...
