Where to start?

First I hope you removed the half dog set screw in the top of the headstock that prevents the quill from coming out or rotating.

That green 'bracketry' belongs to something else.(roto tiller?)

That is indeed a flexible shaft.

The only 'different' belt would be if it is a Gilmer ...

New to SS

Hey guys,
Had a Mark 5 given to me by my dad this weekend. It appears from the
serial number to be from 57. Attachments included the bandsaw, joinner,
compressor, belt sander.
Everything worked except the quill would not
extend or retract so i had to use penetrating oil to get it to loosen up and ...
