Attempted to cut a small piece off of scrap wood. Sure enough, it fell into the blade and violently shot out downward through the table insert.

The piece was only about 1/2 inch thick but it got knarled up a little by the blade. The scrap piece had a nice smooth beveled cut though.

Lesson Learned ...

No. Not that smart.

I was happy that I figured one thing out though. If the miter guage is in the slot on the other side it will hit the blade during the cut. I remember seeing pictures of a miter guage with slices through it and now I know how they did it.

I need to make beveled crosscuts in some long stock (4ft) by 6inch. Im afraid that with the table tilted, the piece I cut off will fall into the blade and kick back ...

Thanks everyone. I just can't bring myself to pay almost $23 for a wrench that only has one purpose. I do not have a crescent wrench big enough but I will go get one.

I just got a used 510 on craigslist. I want to clean the saw blade and remove the arbor from it. My machine did not come with an arbor wrench.

Can I use an alternative wrench?
How do I remove the arbor?
