Help ID this ShopSmith! Good Buy?

I went & looked at this today. Can anybody give me some info on it?

Comes with all the attachments pictured for $1000. Seems like a good buy to me...

I fired it up & she ran good. Was owned by a doctor years ago then purchased by the current owner who kept it as a second in his cabinet shop. It has seen very little use.

That looks like a very nice Mark V with the Bandsaw, Belt Sander, Jointer, and the Dust Collector/Shop Vac.

If you had a picture of the serial number we could direct you to the place to look up when it was produced.

Price, thats all in the buyer's perspective. If you were to go out and purchase each of those items and of the same quality, you'd have way more than 1K in it.
I'd call it a good deal (if its all there and runs well/smoothly) for 1K, thats me though.

Seems reasonable assuming it all works.

Now make sure the 'normal' accessories are there also.

decent price, but not the bargain of the century. I have seen similar units around here go for a little less. Bargain the guy down to $800 and it will be fair for all

You guys must all disagree with me and just have not said so. Hmmm, I find that hard to believe though.

I just do not know how you can say $1000 (or any other value really) is good or bad without knowing where sharp21 is located. The fair price for a Mark 5 with that many accessories is very much a function of where it is being offered.

Furthermore, if the Mark 5 and the SPT are all functional (require no major parts). I consider $1000 a pretty darn good price. Certainly, I would feel more confident in saying that if I could mount up and turn on everything but I can't. I think that is called speculation.

Only sharp21 can do that and only he knows how much a nearly complete power tool shop is worth to him.

Agreed. However, the value of hte capabilities vs. the cost required to obtain via shopsmith vs. the cost of similar capabilities is very out of whack in most areas it seems...at least around here. Naturally, it is also a function of the actual internal condition of that particular unit and the various accessories (ie: bearings, belts, and speed controllers add up quick).

Well I started the haggling at $750, figuring I would go to $800. But he is firm on the price...

I would say $1000 is fair for Alberta as I see them going for $1k without any additions. But it just didn't feel right so I didn't take it home. I AM however going to go back & scoop up all of his hand tools!

Call him back in a week or two, and perhaps he'll be more inclined to negotiate the price.

I would rather pay $1000.00 for a 510 or 520 with larger table system and better fence.
Patience can be rewarded sometimes.
If it seems like what you want though, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about the price.
It's all about your perceived value.
