I bought a Kreg jig about 5 weeks ago. It works great and the project moved ahead so much faster. Since purchasing it, i have gotten back into woodworking again.

It is exceptional for building face frames for cabinets/furniture, etc.

Hi there... I have to chime in because I recently made my first cabinet (under ss storage cabinet) and I decided to use a face frame. I built up the face frame and decided to glue and nail the joints since I have more time than money and did not want to buy the kreg jig.

About 1/2 way through the face frame assembly, I had one of the machinists at our company make me a pocket hole jig out of a solid steel bar. It got the job done OK, but a few days later I found myself cruizing the aisles at HD...when all of a sudden an off brand pocket hole drilling jig happened to be on clearance for half off. For some unknown reason it jumped off the shelf and landed in my cart! Tools sometimes have a habit of doing that...:D

The kit was $20 and came with the jig, special bit, 2 sizes of pocket hole screws, and plugs in a handy case. It worked so well that I went back and finished the face frame in short order and even used the jig to attach the face frame to the cabinet.

I just wanted to mention that kreg isn't the only jig around, even if it is the most popular...I can't say its the best because I don't have one.

Let me know if you're interested in the cheaper version...or my homemade version and I will go take some pics.
Thanks
Geo
