Split washer removal

Thanks for advise. I was more aggressive in tapping on screwdriver to drive tHe split washer off. Found spring was bent; straightened with pliers (a little over correction actually;-)

When I reassembled, I had to pinch closing ears of slip washer back into closed position. Both pawls are now under lite spring tension.

Thanks again. I was just too tentative, but advise to treat like I was going to replace parts if needed was good advise.
