Drum Sand paper loading hint?

The core of that drum is just a piece of rubber tubing. Stiff rubbber tubing. When you tighten the bolt, the two metal ends are pulled together causing the rubber tube to expand a little.

Yes, it probably took a set. Maybe you can just release the pressure (back off the bolt) and squeeze the drum to compress the rubber tube while at the same time pulling the sanding drum off.
