It is true that I build very few (if any) items that could, by any stretch of your imagination, be called precision projects. Therefore I am curious.
Why does anyone need to to adjust the depth of cut more accurately than say 1/64th of an inch?
Don't get me wrong. I am not challenging the fact that this is done. I am simply asking what sort of projects require this level of accuracy for depth of cut.
I use the stop collar frequently but I use it to "sneak up" on a mark or to "sneak up" on an edge. I can still see well enough to distinguish (if the light is adequate) the 1/64" marking on my steel rule. To get closer than that is out of the question.

I thought the movement in the wood creates a bigger than 128th inch 'error'.
