Two minor things ????

Mounted table saw for a couple test cuts yesterday and the quill slowly retracted itself while running from where I had it locked until it started rubbing the table where the insert goes. (Have an insert ordered).

Put drill chuck on for horizontal bore test and noticed quite a bit of wobble in the bits (1/2" & 1"). The wobble straightened up once the bit took the wood and the holes where pretty good. Wobble was not as bad with a small bit (1/8").
Wobble appeared to be in the chuck and not the quill.

Any info appreciated.

If you have visible "wobble", you have a problem. However, make certain that it is "wobble" that you see. Large drill bits do appear to have a wobble that is really just the bit and the way it is "twisted"

I have a piece of steel rod that I use in the quill to check wobble. It works well.

Are your 'bits' straight?;) Roll them on a flat surface to check.

I will get a closer look at it later. Have a lot going on right now. Got a kid who just graduated from UA in May and having hard time finding a job. Trying to get him to Texarkana,Tx. Friday for an interview then one next Tues. in Tuscaloosa and another one in Odessa, Tx. after that.

Whew!!!!

Wish us luck. He's my youngest and I love him but I'm looking forward a little to "empty nest".
