I too enjoyed his posting and learned a lot from them. Unfortunately, he has not posted in quit a while. Hope all is well.tomsalwasser wrote:I seem to recall Mark the Cabinetmaker had a sketchup tutorial that was pretty good. I've been away for a while but I always enjoyed his detailed show and tell session.

My wood projects don't include any computer or any downloads. My ideas originate in my head and get fabricated there. Once I have a plan in my head, I draw it out on a sheet of paper (yes, that old white stuff used a century or more ago).
Then, I go the woodshop and build it.
Building things from someone else's plans doesn't work for me.

I sorta agree with your approach except that I put it on paper using Sketchup rather than a pencil.garys wrote:My wood projects don't include any computer or any downloads. Sketchup has the advantage of making errors(dimensions etc.) obvious on paper(or screen) rather than at dry fit time.dusty wrote:I sorta agree with your approach except that I put it on paper using Sketchup rather than a pencil.

I (not very faithfully) watch the Fine Woodworking "Design, Click, Build" RSS feed. It is a good reference for me to use when trying to figure out how Such-n-Such sketchup tool works.
I'm not a SketchUp guru, but do use it to do 2D sketches when working on a project design.
