Household bleach is sodium hypochlorate, and when exposed to the elements enough, it will become sodium cloride. (Or, salt.)

Bleach is 5.2 or 6.0 concentrate. The lower concentration is in the gallon bottles, the higher mix is in 3 quart bottles. But, they're the same price.

Hang on a second

First ask your self the following question.

Is this going to be worth the hassle??

It may be simpler and more cost effective to either:
paint or veneer over the item or
construct a new item with new plywood (and an updated design).

Just my 2 cents. I find unless an item has significant sentimental value, it is often much simpler to either cover over or make a new whatever. Especially if the item is plywood.

I actually wondered that myself. Might be easier just make a couple of doors. But the cabinet is in the same shape, and would be very difficult to replace without destroying the tile around it. So, I figure I can do the doors and make my mistakes there before starting on the cabinet. I can replace the doors if necessary.
