Simple Jigs

I needed to cut tenons on a project so I reviewed whats out there and made my own little version of a tenon jig. 3/4" Ply I had from a year ago, and I had enough to make a jiggy thing for my fence for future dado use.
While I was searching for pics and ideas, I thought it would be great to have a jig thread to just post pics ect of jigs you've all made over the years, as a good resource. All in one place.
Anyone else like the idea?

I happen to like to make jigs. I don't have a real count but I'd say I must have 50 or so threads on the subject. Most have a lot of detailed instructions rather then just a picture or two. I try to add things that make the posts a lesson and even if you don't build the jig you might pickup some ideas for other projects you build.

In most cases you can adapt jigs based on what materials you have and how you want to use them. I don't expect people to make exactly what I show and in fact I think in a lot of cases most only viewers only get a ruff idea of what they see, that is fine with me.

I could see a new place being created for jigs/fixtures and homemade tools. I don't see all the old posts making their way to the new area as that would be a lot of work for ADMIN. As such I don't think that will happen.

I guess we need to wait and see if there is more interest in this area then just a few of us. I know in the past a pen area was talked about and an alignment area which never came about... perhaps some others as well.

I plan to keep posting jigs/fixtures and the like with or without any changes and encourage others to as well.

How about a thread that contains links to the earlier 'jig threads'. The originators of those older threads could add them to 'the link thread'.

I believe that you can see only your last 500 posts. The other are still there but you would have to remember them and search for them. I've done so many that I'm not feeling it for trying to recount them all that way. Besides a link would need a photo or good description to be really helpful.

It is of course something that could be done, just a lot of work.

I just went and checked and the last 500 posts is correct but it seems if I look for threads I started they might well all be there. It is too late tonight to look at this but it might be possible to look at the 350+ threads and pull out most of my relevant ones without too much effort.

Here is my jig for setting the knives on my planer.

I bought my Delta "lunchbox" planer used and it didn't come with the knife setting jig. My knives were getting VERY dull and I took a guess that the previous owner had never flipped the blades over. I was right. I tried setting them as best I could from the top using another home made jig, but that didn't work out very well.

I did some googling and found some VERY detailed instructions for fine tuning a planer. Most of them were for larger more professional planers and recommended adjustments I couldn't make on mine. I can't find that page now or I'd link to it. But, this little jig was part of the instructions. It sits on the bed and I can set the knifes relative to the bed and the infeed/outfeed rollers. It took me half a day of tinkering with it but the results were great.
