I finally have a Shopsmith
Just bought my Mark V for a hundred bucks. Needed a motor, found one on E-bay for $69.00. It's up and running, ready to go. Got most of the accessories, too.

Welcome to the SS Forum Sawtoothe. Lots of info here far ya, just look around or ask. What was wrong with the old motor?
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders,molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

Congratulations on your Shopsmith and on your eBay win. But I have a question. Are you the guy who beat me out of that motor at the very last second of bidding about two weeks ago?:( I thought I had a steal and then lost it literally in the last 5 seconds. I won't bid the way I did again. I learned something on this one. You need to learn to 'snipe' Dusty. I am sure the successful bidder bid much higher than he got it for at T-00:00:05
Decide the max you are willing to pay. Bid that amount near the end as he did. Cat & mouse does not always work as you found out.
You may not always succeed, but at least it will sell for more than your 'max'.

Sniping is your best bet to win... a sniping software will monitor the auction for you and will place a winning bid up to the Max you set when there is a set amount of time left.
Personally, I use 6 seconds.
