is really neat.

Here in this part of the desert south west you don't even need sand paper grit to make it work. I keep a small cup of sand from the dry river bed out back on my glue table. A small, small pinch of river sand, applied very sparingly, works great.
Learned that from an olde native cabinet maker who used to live just down the street.

Once upon a time, Jim McCann and I concocted a get-rich-slowly scheme in which we would pack ordinary sand into salt shakers and sell it as "No Slip Glue Grip" or something just as innocuous. We eventually dropped the project when all the shakers we tested -- even pepper shakers -- dispensed way too much sand with a single shake. You only need a few grains for this to work. If you get too much sanding grit in the glue, it becomes difficult to clamp the wood together and make a good glue joint. Somewhere between three grains and a dozen is just the right amount.

A small, small pinch applied very sparingly must equal about 3-12 grains because it works.Nick wrote: You only need a few grains for this to work. It's sort of like Great Great Grandma's green apple pie. How much sugar do you add. Don't know, just enough to make it right.
