Shopsmith Stand Alone Router Table
Years ago I purchased a Shopsmith stand aloner outer table but never used it. I misplaced literature that came with the table. Does anyone have exprience with the table and more importantly recommendation re the brand/model of router I should purchase? Thanks.
Although not familiar with a Shopsmith stand alone router table, I can say that almost any of the routers now available to home workshops will fit in the table. The only limiting factor would be the height of the table and will the router length/hieght fit (vertically) beneath the table.
Of course you will need a router insert for the table that will allow the router base to screw into that insert.
Personally, I favor the Porter Cable brand of routers.

According to the manual I have for model 555414 Free Standing Router Table, any U.L. approved 3 HP or less router can be used. Porter Cable models 100, 536, 537, 630, 690 & 691, Bosch models 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604 & 1606, and Ryobi model RE-600; these routers fit the router plate without modifications to the plate. They note that the router base must be round and not exceed 6-1/2" in diameter. Router switch must be able to stay in the 'on' position without being held by hand.Kaiser wrote:Years ago I purchased a Shopsmith stand alone router table but never used it. Hope this helps.

I have had the Triton 2 1/2 router in my table for years and it still works like new. The Triton routers were made specifically for mounting on a table and can be adjusted from above table with a crank.Kaiser wrote:I so much very much appreciate you taking the time to provide me options.
