The only use I would have for the SS is as to set up the tables as a bench to hold the posts while I laid out the lines for the twists and then bult a jig to hold a hand held router following the lay out lines.
He could use an ogee bit either to create a grove or on each side of the line to create the "rope". He didn't say that he wanted them round so will presume keeping it square sides.
It would be slow because he would have to reposition the jig many times, but it would get the job done.
