Saw blade question

How do I use a Diablo blade on the shopsmith 1 1/4 arbor? Biggest one I have seen is a 1 inch diameter on the blades.? I think the arbor on the blade now is for another function but it works, the lock nut is on the back side of the blade and the book shows the nut in front of the blade.

Do you have the Shopsmith 1 1/4" saw arbor?

The only way you can use the Diablo blade is to have the hole bored to 1 1/4" or buy a 5/8" arbor.

Note: Read the descriptions for 555321 and 555608. Do you have a model 500 or 505/510/520?

I don't know what arbor you have mounted that "seems to work" but be careful using arbors not intended for the saw. The nut that secures the blade to the arbor could spin off if it is the wrong arbor.

Is that arbor a Shopsmith arbor?

Yes it is a Shopsmith arbor, I think it may be for a molding head but not sure, I had considered boring out the blade but for safety reasons decided not too.

Is this the arbor you have?

Please read the note. Cannot be used with regular saw blade!

I don't know exactly why it cannot since it can be used with a dado blade. I suspect that it is due to physical interference.

, procure a Shopsmith saw blade arbor designed specifically for the model Shopsmith you have.
