I guess I'm officially a colector now
Well, 2 weeks ago I never even heard of Shopsmith. I bought a 54 greenie shown in the other thread.
Tonight I went to look at one in craigslist being sold incredibly cheap. It had a bandsaw which i didn't have. it looked incredibly rusty in the pics. So i figured parts for my greenie, and a bandsaw.
Well, i was wrong...
Now I have a goldie. Tomorrow I post pictures.
It came with a jointer, something else I didn't have. It did seem to run good, quill was free moving, and the speed control worked properly.
It obviously sat in a damp garage, the tubes, and tales have a fair amount of surface rust. Tomorrow I will clean the rust off, and wax it.

Dang dude.... another one followed me home today too.
SS Mark V (1983 from Grandfather) upgraded to a 510, pieces to make a 500 mini, SS bandsaw, belt sander, broken scroll saw, and strip sander, Jet VS Mini Lathe, and tons of Lee Valley and vintage Stanley planes. Woodcraft slow speed grinder and a German made Tormek wannabe. Ridgid TS 3650 Table Saw, General 80-075LM Jointer.
I am posting four pics of my goldie. Freshly unloaded from my truck, two pics.
2 pics cleaned up. removed the rust the best i could, and waxed the tubes, and jointer. the band saw will be tomorrow.
well, only two would post.
can someone send me a pm on using img tags to post pics from another site? I can't remember how.

I did a serial number look up of the goldie, 379064. so that makes it a 61, I think, which should be a 1 1/8?
It is a good running machine through the entire speed range, and looks like it will be my primary worker.
