Tried some spray penetrant (NOT WD-40)
that carried in some of the graphite I was frustrated with. Freed it up nicely, however, I don't trust it long term, so am going to do the mineral spirit soak and see what that does. It felt just like a bike wheel with dry dirty bearings at the beginning.
