Last Unknown Parts

So I found what most all parts were intended for but these last two pieces of aluminum are not anything I can find referenced. Any ideas? They look like parts that would maybe fit the fence or the track for the fence on the table. The plastic part I found was for the dust collection and attaches to the router/shaper table insert so that and the bolts, teflon washers are now known parts. The aluminum parts are the only mystery left.

The aluminum parts are gauges to set the proper spacing between the top of the tables and the top of the 520 rails.

The black plastic thingie is the bottom dust collector connector for the shaper insert .

I guess I need to lookup the setup adjustments to see how these are suppose to be used to make these adjustments. The Mark 7 came mostly assembled and the manual said it was factory adjusted so I wouldn't need to make adjustments now. Maybe it's a better idea to go over and check these settings anyway just to get better familiar with this machine.

Looking forward to actually using it. Just need to get the hand back in shape and get the strength back since the surgery.

When I use these, I typically turn the table upside down on my workbench and use the gauges as spacers between the bench top and the the rails. The process would work better if I had two sets of spacers (all four corners of a table).

I don't feel so bad now. I just went through the same thing a couple of months ago. I managed to figure out those mystery parts eventually as I set up for different operations. Some of them, such as the rail adjustment aluminum blocks, were mentioned in those manual supplements. Those confused me at first since they were talking about things like 520 upgrades.

I still haven't figured out what that washer is for, though.

Maybe Shopsmith can start including a piece of paper that identifies that bag of mystery parts for new owners?

I'm starting to get the picture now. I guess one of the very confusing things about this manual for the Mark 7 is that it seems to be based on the older 510/520 series which is great if you're familiar with those but confusing to me as this new Mark 7 is my first SS.

The manual itself seems to have some issues I've noticed as well. Seems like whenever there's a Caution note there are missing letters in the message. An example on page C-21 states " e careful not to overtighten loc s. Overtightening loc s may damage the way tu es at le support tu es or other parts of the machine". Now I understand most of that to read as "Be careful not to overtighten locks. Overtightening locks may damage the way tubes table support tubes or other parts of the machine." A lot of the diagrams are this way as well. But it takes a minute to get the message. It really messes with me if I'm tired. That's the old part of me I guess!

I've also quickly learned to go through the entire paperwork on any new part as at the end there may well be a supplement that alters or changes the way something is attached or assembled. The dust collector is a prime example. The supplements are in the very back of the manual that came with it. Up front is likely a better place where you see it right off rather than work through the assembly and then come up on changes from steps 3-8 or whatever. Live and learn.

Are the assembly/blowout diagrams online anywhere? Some have very small detail that's really hard to see. I had problems with the assembly of the lift assist until I watched the older video of it being installed. Although the kit had changed it was still the same basic install.

Don't get me wrong I think this is going to be a wonderful centerpiece to my woodworking but it does take some getting use to and this forum has been, and I expect, will continue to be a very helpful place for great help.
