Seeing this brought a smile to my face as I just experimented with birdsmouth joints this weekend in an attempt to make a curved panel....

Still working on the canoe deck? ExtraMile's photo immediately brought to mind the pinch dogs that came with my 10ER, in a goody box full of patternmaker's tools. It took me a while to figure out what they were (I almost tossed themalgale wrote:Seeing this brought a smile to my face as I just experimented with birdsmouth joints this weekend in an attempt to make a curved panel....

How'd you guess? Yes, pinch dogs would be handy....BuckeyeDennis wrote:Still working on the canoe deck? ExtraMile doesn't really need them, though, because he has a full cylinder that he can band-clamp.

FYI: In case you care... there will be a lull in my postings on here.
Those mugs, will be my main squeeze, until I can make a dozen or more.
As I have a chance in going to, two major vendor exhibits, in July and August and I need to use every waking hour building these! Along with, getting other stock, built up!
For example: photo one shows a portion of the 32 staves that I made today.
These same staves, where made with rough cut oak. The 3/4" board needed to be planed down to 3/8 inch, and so on. It is a rough way to build, but when I do not have the extra cash to go and purchase wood from one of the retailers, then I must mill all of my wood, for my builds!

If I made one of these, it would leak hot coffee on someone and I'd get sued! LOL
Shows are a lot of work. People who don't vend have no idea how much prep goes into prepping for them.
Good luck and keep that nose to the grindstone.
Maybe post the shows that you attend. I have a bro not to far from you. It is a possibility that someday I could be in the neighborhood.

Will be interesting to see the finished product, how it will hold liquids.
