Thanks to everyone who provided feedback and ideas, it was very helpful. John I especially like the shadowbox idea. When I deliver the project next week I'll propose that. I tried my best not to modify the profiles, but given my equipment, my skill-set and process there was some. Overall I'm pleased with the results.
I tried to clean up the insides with a router and one of those bowel cutting bits. Really light passes and I couldn't use the bearing without changing the profiles more than I wanted. When I completed the router work I marked the centers and using DST, attached the bowels to my original SS face plate and proceeded to sand the work to 220g. I used BLO and wet dry 220. I'll wipe on a couple coats of satin poly to complete.
