Stacked Dado set for Christmas but which one?

Post by UncleSnick »

Hi,

Maybe some of you more experienced folks can help me out..

For Christmas I'll be moving up from a wobble dado blade to a stacked set.
No more hours spent trying to get the width and then the fixture 'just right'!
Hoping to avoid this in the future...

Is there a good set or anything you'd recommend for around $100 - $150 max?

Thanks for your help!!

Infinity 8" Dadonator is what I use; but I think the price has gone up since I bought mine. It may be north of your upper end price range

Makes perfectly flat-bottomed dados with no "bat wings".

I bought the Oshlun SDS-0630 dado set from Amazon a couple years ago, based on the reviews there. I don't have anything to compare it to (and I have no doubt that it pales in comparison to a Forrest Dado King), but I've been very happy with it. The current Amazon price is $73.

You can get the 6" Dadonator Jr. for just under $200.

Back in April I picked up a new stacked dado set. You can check that post out here:

I have not taken the opportunity to review it but I'm impressed. I've stopped using my 8" set and have only been using the new 6" set.

If you wait for a sale you can save some $$.

If we could vote on this I would say go for the 6" Dadonator JR without question.
