Mark 7 overheat while overhead routing

This past week I was overhead routing. The depth was minimal as I was only rounding the edge of a 5/8 panel. I had several pieces about 16" square. rounding both sides of the panel. New carbide blade. After about 12 pieces, the unit powered off... I noticed the entire head and quill was very warm. After about 15 minutes it started back up but only ran again for a few more cuts then powered off. After a long off time, it powered up with no problems. I am on a 20 amp circuit. I may have another cut like this and wonder if lifting the end cover a small amount to allow air to enter the headstock... ALSO if extending the quill fully would help dissipate heat.

Have ya cleaned out the inside lately? How's the area temp?
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders,molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

Don’t have a Mark 7 but have seen plenty of posts to know that this is an issue and that cleaning out the headstock isn’t the answer.

I had your shopsmith power pro runing hot. What I habe done when the machine is hot put machine drill pres mode lift top cover up and put two drops fine oil on that big bearing and let the machine set and cool. I do not believe the heat in the electronics.
