The idler bearing assembly is $50 on the Shopsmith website. I'll probably just buy one when they get them back in stock. I've put my name on the waiting list.

I would be suspicious of shaft wear rather than bearing wear. Maybe shaft too soft?

That thought crossed my mind. I’ll see if I can pull it apart once I have a replacement and report back with pictures.
