Dead animal in the shop

I have a dead animal somewhere in the back room of my shop that I cannot find. The stench is awful, I can hardly go back there without holding my breath. Does anyone know how to eliminate the smell?

Breathe in through the mouth and out through the nose. Remove all decomp material first and all that it has contaminated. Then depending on the surface use odorxit.

Kills primer does a good job of stoping odor too, but the surface must be cleaned first.

Lots and lots of ventilation. A couple of buckets of water and Pinesol may also help cover the odor to permit a thorough inspection of the area to remove the dead animal. Leave the windows and doors open and turn on the fans. Good Luck.

This won't be a LOT of help but the only way I know about is to FIND the dead animal. I had a dead cat under our deck several years back. Fortunately it was outside but unfortunately, the strongest odor seemed to be around our back door.

Had to take off about ten deck boards before locating the thing. It wasn't right by the back door but about ten feet away. The prevailing breeze here (such as it is) blew the odor right at the back door.

The good news is once you locate and remove the carcass the smell departs rather quickly unless it has decomposed a great deal and liquified and soaked into any wood. If so you will have to replace that wood to eliminate the odor.

If you got a dog let it out in that area, it may de drawn to the stink(they love dead things)and then get the dog away from the carcass once it finds it.
Or you can let a vulture into the shop they love to eat dead things.

Yup! A Vulture would do it....... Ya can rent em from your local 'Rent A Vulture') store!
