I need help with false drawer fronts

Post by cocacola1012 »

I am going to bulid some cabinets with drawers for my garage. Is there a rule of thumb for the false drawer fronts? How to figure the overhang on the top and sides? Whether to make it flush with the bottom?
Thanks inadvance. (I was also looking for the thread that had "TaHdAv" or something like that)

I usually make mine with a 1/4" overhang on all sides. It's a personal preference, though. Some styles dictate more or less overhang. For shop drawers, 1/4" would be fine.
There are tricks to mounting and aligning them.
How many and in what configuration are you planning?

I assume your asking about overlay when you say overhang, the amount the drawer/door front overlays the cabinet face frame.

I would think you would want the overhang on the drawers to match the cabinet doors if there is any.

I like to see the drawer and doors line up if they are both on the same cabinet.
