ER/MarkV Compatability

Greetings!
I received a call from a guy wanting to get rid of some MarkV parts (bandsaw, compressor, jigsaw, 6" belt sander) will any of these parts fit my ER10?

They are most probably for a Mark V. Go ahead and buy them for future expansion!;)

The band saw and jig saw will work with an adapter mount. That in itself is a big topic, though. I'm not sure about the other parts.

All will work with the ER if you have a power mount adapter (or equivalent) and a headstock pulley with integral drive hub (or equivalent). There is info about these over at the Yahoo 10erusers group.The compressor, belt sander and jigsaw can be driven from the quill side and would not require the special pulley, only an inexpensive drive hub.That being said, it might be cheaper/easier/more fun to pick up a cheap Mark V to drive the accessories. You can even "Mini"turize it if you are limited on space.

Mark, I've made an adapter that uses the headrest (ponytail) from a MkV, instead of the ER (horseshoe) headrest. I got an adapter that mounts on the input shaft outside of the pulleys, and drives the stuff with a regular MkV SPT adapter. (Hmmm, was Dr Goldschmidt an equine fan? Both the headrests are horse related.)

I've got a bandsaw, and the headrest is strong enough to lift up the whole other end of the ER, by pulling on the bandsaw top.

Somewhere I've posted instructions at the ER site. You'll need to make your bench about 6 inches longer, and the rest is just simple construction woodworking. You'll also need a MkV headrest.

This is the shop made drive hub attachment that came with the SPT adapter. It is a short shaft locked into a pulley that is then tapped and bolted into the existing pulley. The pulley cover will have to be altered or removed to do this. Looks suspect to me but if it was done by the same person that concieved of the adapter and the copy lathe I wouldn't knock it until I tried it (which I haven't had time to do yet)

Sounds like a good bit of work and considering he is looking at getting $200 for the lot, maybe I should pass. I have a fairly new bandsaw, 2 SS jigsaws, a scroll saw, and a new compressor. The only tool I don't have is the 6" belt sander, but I've got a 4", 3" and two 1" belt sanders.
