If what you are describing looks like the attached shaper cutter picture, then they are shaper cutters and cannot be used with a router. Nick Engler shows how a shaper is set up and used in Sawdust Session 24.
I have also attached a picture of what router bits look like. The picture is just an example. Router bits come in many different shapes and sizes to perform different tasks, but almost all of them have ¼]Before any of us give you any more advice, it is extremely important that you get the manual for your router and read it THOROUGHLY! A router is not a dangerous tool when used properly, but can be if misused.[/color]
I have shaper cutters . Would you be so kind and post a link to the saw dust session that shows how to use them ? I have 6 of them that look to be new and I really like the edges that they have . After sorting through the things I have I seem to need a larger assortment of router bits I am making a project that I want to put a decorative edge on .Is It possible to use the shaper cutters to do this ?? Thank your all for you time and advice it is much appreciated
I have a Shopsmith OPR that I purchased new many years ago and could send you a copy of the owners manual that came with mine. I could fax it or send you a copy. All I need is a fax number or an address. You can send me a private message if you would like. I may not be able to do it till next week since I would have to do it from work and we may be getting 1-2 feet of snow this week yet.
