Newbies PTWFE / Self-Study club?

Back before I joined, forum members formed a sort of book club and worked through PTWFE chapter by chapter. I was curious how many new members might wish to do this, and/or something similar with the Self-study course.

I am looking at Power Tool Woodoworking For Everyone (Fourth Edition) which I believe is the edition used to create the web version which is located here: Power Tool Woodworking for Everyone

There are 25 chapters, some being of relavence to all Shopsmith owners, and some being dedicated to tools you may not own, but may still wish to learn about.

The Self-study course has 10 Lessons, broken up into 66 Assignments.

There are endless ways to break this down, but as JPG indicated the starting point is clear. The question would be how many chapters do you wish to do per week (1=6 months, 2=3 months, etc) and how many Assignments?

FWIW, the 'Self Study Course' would be more like an actual 'book club' since there is NO online version to refer to.

An active discussion can take place of each portion on line.

P.S. As an aid to those either not able to start/continue on a schedule basis, create a thread for each chapter/course portion with a thread serving as an index like Mickyd has done on his extremely long threads.

An alternative to the PTWFE, would be to create the index thread that links to the already existing threads the last time it 'was done'. New participants can still append to those threads and we all would get to see their insight by way of the new posts function.

Just a suggestion: it might be better to do the PTWFE first and then work on the self-study course.

Sounds good to me. That will give everyone a bit of insight before they start the course.

And JPG is of course correct, there is no online version of the course, so it will give a bit of time for those who wish to work through the course to obtain it if they are interested.
