Tailstock live centers for SS lathe

Post by bdad80 »

Is the Shopsmith lathe setup for a #2 MT tailstock? If so, can you use any tailstock in that size, or do you need to use the Shopsmith brand? Any feed back would be appreciated.

I've seen a #2 MT live center at Highland Woodworking and see no reason why it would not work on the Shopsmith.

My #2 morse taper live center came from Penn State Industries. Great price and it works very well:

Thanks for all of the answers. I have just noticed at Penn State and others that I can buy a live center for less than I can get SS live center used on Ebay. Turning is something new for me, so I don't want to spend a lot of money on it until I see if I enjoy it. Again thanks for the feed back.

Bought my #2 morse taper live center from Sears. I don't remember what it cost me but it works great and cheaper than SS.
