It's not under utilized anymore! That picture is a couple weeks old and I've crammed a lot more in there now. In fact, upon opening the door, you can't even see the Mark V anymore.

Geez, Heath. I thought that my garage was crowded but now I realize that I have a luxurious space to work and store my stuff. I can actually walk between my two Shopsmiths. Thanks for the courage folks. Once I get these two bookcases, the cedar chest and hall mirror, maybe I can get my shop to look a little more like Ed's. Wow! Great organization and I hope I can get a few of those ideas put in place. Thanks for those ideas. Hoping for cooler weather so I can do more. :p

Found space

Recent posts by others who may remain nameless (Mark) have shamed me into trying to create some sort of order out of my beloved chaos. I thank them (him) and while I will never achieve his level of organization I am making steps. Some of you with small shops may think that storage is not a problem for those of us blessed with large shops. Foolish lads, it just takes us a little longer to clutter them up, not much but a little. When I built my shop I was building a whole house full of new cabinets and furniture for our reno and needed to store a lot of Walnut and Birch plywood. I built a quite large storage area for it that is now underutilized but I now have a growing pile of precious veneer bits and pieces and a lot of offcuts that when you are doing small inlays may still find a use.

Here are some before and after shots of my solution:

Works out to about 66 square feet of additional horizontal space that I can actually access.

Sorry, Just some old walnut ply that's been cluttering up the plywood rack since I finished the kitchen cabinets five years ago. It does line up top to bottom. Do I get points for that?

Sure! All you have to do is move the bottom drawer up to the top and bump them all down one position.:D

Sorry for the loose use of the term 'booking'.;)

OK, I did book the drawer fronts on my lathe bench, but that was a veneer project. Been there, done that.
