I just picked up a used SS with several attachments and parts. Not sure how to determine what model I have or how to put get started. The motor runs strong, I am not sure where to start. Appreciate any assistance...

What color is it?
What does the vent plate say(on the 'left' end in the middle/shiney perforated).

WELCOME!!! As JPG said the more info we get from you the better we can answer your questions. However do not use the machine until you can completely check it out. Check the electrical cord for cuts bruises and possible deterioration of the insulation and make the ground pin is still on the plug.
Lots of good people here that will really help you. Don't be bashful and don't be afraid to ask questions. The only dumb question is the one that is not asked.

Start with the ones describing 'restoring' a Mark 5(session 21,22,23) then those dealing with alignment and any dealing with an area you are experiencing problems with.

Another great source of information is "Power Tool Woodworking for Everyone". The latest 4th edition covers the Shopsmith 510 and all the tools that go with it. It can be purchased from Shopsmith (555069) or used copies are easy to obtain from internet book sources such as http://www.abebooks.com
