Woodworking Shows

Post by northside »

The Woodworking Shows are having many woodworking shows across America. There is a show in Columbus,Oh. at the Ohio Expo Center from Feb. 4 to Feb. 6.. Why would Shopsmith not take this opportunity to demonstrate the Mark 7 with the new Power Pro Headstock? Will this be another missed opportunity for Shopsmith to reconnect with the woodworking community after sufferning a financial setback due to lack of sales. The saying Build it and they will come. Shopsmith needs all the exposure it can get and also price their products in line for the average woodworker.

Some of these shows, put on by a particular promotor, are an "entourage" - the same dealers with the same stuff going from city to city. This is a real grind & expense for manufacturers in this weak economy. There is a show in Tampa every year, but I don't go anymore.

My son and I attended the Woodworkers in America Conference last October and this was a completely different experience. Because it is held in Covington KY, only about sixty miles from Dayton, I wish Shopsmith would consider having a presence there this year. By-the-way, I met a couple from Toronto at this conference and Lee Valley was there in full force.
