I agree 100% with the previous statements. You did very good with this deal considering the accessories you got in the package! Enjoy the purchase as they really are addictive and fun to use.

Just a thought, but if you get a planer on E-bay, be very, very , very careful about how it is packed and crated. Mine was packed fairly well, and still arrived with some damage. I have been told that they are notoriously hard to pack and ship. I think the shipping company either rolled the thing all the way here or they drug it to my house!:(

To look at the s/n date chart, one would conclude that no machines were built between 1961 and 1978, or that they did not bother with serial numbers. What gives?
'55 Greenie #292284 (Mar-55), '89 SS 510 #020989, Mark VII #408551 (sold 10/14/12), SS Band Saw, (SS 500 #36063 (May-79) now gone to son-in-law as of 11-11), Magna bandsaw, Magna jointer 16185 (May-54), Magna belt sander SS28712 (Dec-82), Magna jigsaw SS4397 (Dec-78), SS biscuit joiner, Zyliss (knockoff) vise, 20+ hand planes, 60s Craftsman tablesaw, CarbaTec mini-lathe, and the usual pile of tools. Hermit of the Hills Woodworks, a hillbilly in the foothills of the Ozarks, scraping by.

There was a dry spell during the time right before Shopsmith Inc. got involved but I don't think it was for that long a period of time. During that transition period there might have been some record keeping that does not show in these charts.

Shopsmith Inc was formed somewhere around 1972 but I don't know exactly when they began production again (after the Magna/Yuba era).

That is I believe the Magna American era. I assume the production records were 'lost' prior to SS Inc. or were misplsced during the 'move'!
