Lift Assist Question

Post by sconcidine »

 I recently purchased a lift assist for my 510. After installing, I find that the headstock will not slide past the half way point on the tubes. If I detach the gas cylinder, the headstock slides freely. When the headstock is in the drill press position, it slides freely even with the gas cylinder attached. It seems that the tubes are out of alignment when they are locked down in the horizontal position and the cylinder is attached. Anyone had this problem? What's the cure?

Lift Assist Question

Post by a1gutterman »

Hi sconcidine,

Welcome to the forum and Merry Christmas. There have been more than one thread addressing this or similar problems, all reasonably fixed with little trouble. Look up at the SS tool bar and click on "Search" then on "advanced search" and put "lift assist" into the box. That should lead you to several threads that may help you. Some of the threads that are found in the search start out on one subject and progress to the problem that you are addressing. I suggest you read through to the end of each thread to find your subject.
