Pennsylvania enacted legislation last month to require a photo ID to vote, but I just saw a new bulletin that the ACLU is set to file a challenge to the law soon.

Back in the day when voting was initiated, folks knew each other by looking at their faces and clothes. No ID required as it did not exist. But, in the early 1900's. some folks had to pay a poll tax (unconstitutional) in order to vote. But, with today's society not knowing what our neighbors look like, the poll workers not knowing you, some ID is needed to ensure you are the valid person and legit to vote. Photo ID was required in the military to serve our country.

In Florida, to renew a driver's license, you must produce a valid photo ID, birth certificate and a bill from your residence. For females, you must also produce a marriage certificate, if divorced, you need divorce papers for each event and marriage documents for each marriage. But, they won't take a DD Form 214. Huh?????

If I understand what I saw in this video, in Washington DC not only is a photo ID not required, an ID is not required. Just know the name and address of the person voting and you are in free.

That all there is to it in DC and many, if not most states. Here in Pennsylvania, before the recently passed voter ID law, you just walked into the polling place, told them your name, and perhaps your address, signed the register, and they gave you a ballot.

The only time I had to show and ID was after street numbers were replaced by rural route box numbers for 9-1-1 reasons as this was considered a change of address. I guess I had to show an ID the first time I voted there as well, but really don't remember.

What difference does it make who does the voting, a vote is a vote, the one with the most votes wins. If you can prove you are a human what difference does it make who you are

It does make a difference who is allowed to vote. For example: a person with a felony record is not entitled to vote.

It matters if you have already voted as "Joe Blow" and now you are voting as "Jimmy Jump" or what about "Illegal Alien" status or you are trying to use the name of a deceased person or ..........
And don't try to tell me that this doesn't occur.

The biggest problem arises due to One Peson ONE VOTE. There are those who run busloads of folks around voting several times (sometimes using deceased names) in order to get their "guy or gal" elected. I would be very suprised if anyone that has been elected in the past several years actually truly won.

Here they send a voting card to everyone on the electoral role. You turn up with the card, they tick it off a list and give you your ballot paper.

There is some minor abuse, usually to do with postal votes but the perps get stamped on if discovered.

We recently had a human rights case wrt postal votes and prisoners are now allowed to vote by post. afaik, those with criminal records have always been allowed to vote but don't get called for jury service.

2bits, please allow me to modify your statement. "One citizen, one vote". If the person has done his time and changed his life and obeys the laws of the country and state, then he should be allowed to vote. Else, if he in incarcerated, he has lost his rights in my opinion. Also, it is my opinion from what I was taught in school and home, only folks who are legitimate citizens should have the right to vote. OK, off my soapbox. The bubbles are getting too high.
