Worry Worry Worry about things that MIGHT come to pass.

Screws are easily removed(especially those screwed into tinnerman nuts).

Two(2) screws hold the belt cover on(you already knew that!).

Five(5) screws hold the motor/pan up.

The wires are easily slipped off the power switch terminals.

Three(3) screws hold the speed control in place.

Two(2) screws(maybe one(1)) hold the eccentric/idler shaft in place.

One(1) set screw retains the quill.

One(1) retaining ring holds the main shaft in place(for belt replacement).



Yes some of these things can be reluctant to remove, but none are any where near as problematic as that chuck!!!!!



Unless you are a total klutz(recent actions indicate otherwise), IIWM, I would proceed with it as a DIY(with our help as needed) project.

You will gain a firm grasp of how this beast works that is near impossible otherwise.

Go for it!

You can start disassembling while waiting for the belt to arrive.

Get some gallon ziplock bags and put all parts from each area in separate bags.(all the idler shaft thingeys; all the speed control thingeys; all the main shaft thingeys(short list!); etc.).

A little studying, pay attention to what I’m doing and there should be no problems.

I did not say there would be 'no problems', but rather any will be surmountable with our help.

I've already had to rely on a few of mine to get some sub-assemblies back together in the correct order. "Exploded view" pictures are very, very helpful.
