The Mk5 is a MUCH better table saw, though!

Chances are, your 54 Mk5 was built using ERs as tools.

Yes, there are still ER based custom-built tools on the
production line.

And, I still have some antique Griswold skillets, that still
work as designed.

Will the SS Universal Lathe Tool Rest fit on the 10ER tools? I am admittedly ignorant of the similarities of design between the 10ER and Mark Vs.

Thanks for all your input. I went to check out the Mark 5 and the motor wasn't wanting to spin so they said I could have it for $25 if I wanted to play with it! I will probably set up the 10ER as the lathe though as that seems to be the general consensus.

Cougar, $25 for all those parts? Probably take me 1/4 second to decide!

You CANNOT have just one Shopsmith. (I think Lay's potato chips copied that!)

I agree! $25? A no brainer for sure. Go back an see if they will take $20!:D

The clamps will not fit the way tubes, but they be a simple thing to make.

The UTR sits on top of the carriage, not the way tubes. Is the 10ER carriage roughly the same size as the Mark V carriage? If so, it should work fine.

Since I have the UTR and both a 520 and 10ER, I will resolve this issue tonight.
