Need a finish that will take some heat

I finished the tumbling block trivet. I learned a lot putting this piece together especially that being a little off in a dimension just multiplies itself down the line. Dimentions are 3/4" x 7 5/8" x 5 7/8". Original plan was to be a bit larger but refer back to my second sentence for the reason for the smaller out come. Tools used were SS PP tablesaw, conical sander, belt sander, combination and rip blades, Incra miter V120 miter gauge set at 30 degrees, Delta orbital sander, and a Stanley #4 plane. Finished with mineral oil. As mentioned earlier in the begining of this post, woods used were hard maple, lyptus, and walnut. Found out for the first time that hard maple really is a hard wood and machines nicely. I glued 1/16" cork to the back because that side was not as pretty as the front. Glue is Titebond III. Suggestions and critiques are welcome.
