What Doug did not reveal, was that in addition to that being a 520, it also has a Power Pro headstock.

That embedded message re doing this with a Mark V was a bit misleading due to its lack of detail. The Mark V must be a 505/510/520 and the conversion requires a double tilt upgrade, and a power pro headstock.

A 500 would also require a table upgrade.

To answer your specific question, yes the "500" can do over the table shaping. I do it all of the time. Here is the section from Power Tool Woodworking for Everyone to help you set it up:
