Hub sent from shopsmith does exactly what I wanted. Jsburger is correct, quill extension would not help. I don't like to extend the quill on operations if possible.

Thanks for all the help, glad I found the bub rather than the entire disk assembly.

Well, the same thing is true on your machine. All models of the SS are the same in that respect.

A 'difference' being the Mark 5 will not sand through the blade slot.

Mark 5 == V/500. Only disk sand off the side of the table.

A 'difference' being the Mark 5 will not sand through the blade slot.

Mark 5 == V/500. Only disk sand off the side of the table.

OK, why is that? The saw blade and the disk sander have the same length arbor on the 500 not that should make any difference. Why can't I slide the table over and lower it on the sander disk just like a saw blade?

Am I missing something?
