I'd prefer not to use a veneer. Just want to use the solid wood and a stain, I think.
The background wood is Hard Maple. The cat is Maple stained with black paint and wiped off. The other objects are Hard Maple and Cherry. Finish is Watco Natural Semi-gloss.
