The vinegar will etch the surface, good if you are painting the surface, not good if you plan to leave it raw, soda blast will remove the oxidation and leave a clean SMOOTH surface, then just use Johnsons Paste Wax to prevent recurrence .

One method for cleaning the aluminum I've started using is Mothers mag & aluminum polish,till nothing comes off on the paper towels, followed by wd40 till nothing comes off on the paper towels, then the same for Johnsons paste wax. That's for really neglected items. If I've done that once, then I just keep up with the Johnsons.

Shellac or Pentrol which is a oil base paint additive, works great for sealing raw metals, on the Pentrol can they have the instructions for metal, Shellac use Zinsser Sealing Coat Shellac it is dewaxed or any hand mixed that is dewaxed. Then the JPW.
