Help with my new(to me) mark v

Mechanical inclineness comes from experience/doing,tinkering, some of us just started earlier then others. Exp on are bicycles, child hobbies, I made/designed and flew by wire model air planes. My professions in life were mechanical along with my education as an Engineer, but in honesty did not practice it much, became a Manager of the Dept and did more people stuff then Engineering, my first 20 years at an Utility Company.

Don't I know it! Two years ago I was a travelling sales rep with some small amount of time for hobbies. Now we live entirely off grid and oh the things I have had to learn, simply because nobody else will do it for me. Tractor work, hydroelectric mainenance, logging... Motors and engines always scare me for some reason though. I've learned that the old saying "if at first you don't succeed" really means something if you don't have much money to pay a pro, but you do have the time.

I know people (boys and men) who when given a screw driver do not know how to operate it. Now that is "not mechanically inclined". You do not need to be schooled in mechanical workings to work successfully on the Shopsmith. You need the correct tools and the intelligence to know when you are in over your head so that you can ask questions.

If it doesn't feel safe - don't do it. Just use your head for something other than a hat rack. The Shopsmith was created for folks like you and I.

The person who thinks he/she "knows it all" is the one most likely to do something "really stupid".
