I busted my A$$ on the upper way tubes, the lower tubes are another thing....I rebuilt and waxed every component I have. Helps me learn and understand how it works :-)
I still don't get the 500, 505, 510, 520 thing.....
Thanks for all the help.
I think that if you read and study the information in the first link referenced in post #3 in this thread that you will see the relationship of 500/505/510/520.
These are models of the Mark V as it evolved thru the years. Many of those parts, like your headstock, are compatible with the Mark VII. This is one of the tremendous strong suits of the Shopsmith equipment. So amny parts are interchangeable.

That is what I was thinking, but not sure of, being the new guy.
Here is a carriage I was going to use but could not get all the parts for and the different tables I have. (it is the same link as before, I just added more pics)

The one thing I noticed is there is
NO carriage stop ring on the way tubes (upper tubes) between the headstock and the carriage. You should get one from Shopsmith (part number 516667 for a 505/510/520 model: part number 504165 for the 500 model).
Since you appear to have a 500 model work table you should get the 504165 version. Then with arbors for the 500 model your saw blades will automatically line up with the slot in the work table when you push the carriage up against the headstock.
Be careful buying arbors! Those for the 505/510/520 models will NOT automatically align your blades with the table for a 500.
Welcome to our group. You will find friendly, helpful folks here.
BTW, my BIL lives in Round Rock and I'm sure he'd be willing to show you his machine and the part you are missing. (But I'd also bet he won't be willing to part with his part!)
Any more questions, just ask. Someone will quickly answer your question. There are many years of experience among the members and they are all quite helpful.

the carriage and main table for the 500 model is different.
the carriage and main table (ignoring the rails where the rip fence attaches) for the 505, 510, and 520 are the same as each other but different from the 500.
part of the difference between the 500 and the others is how far away from the headstock that the slot in the table for the saw blade is. because of that difference, the arbor for the 500 is different in length than the arbor for the others.
I have no idea where the MarkVII carriage and maintable fit in this scheme.

I am actually in Cedar Creek, by Bastrop. South of Austin, I work in Austin. I will have to try and hook up with BIL and see how it is really done!

...........................
A carriage stop ring will not only allow for accurate repositioning of the carriage when you have the saw table installed but will also help prevent the carriage from being damaged should the headstock either knock up against it too hard OR should it drop against it from the vertical drill press position. It will prevent you from having to do a repair like
THIS.

And they are not very expensive, looks like under $3 for the Part Number I need. I will be ordering today.....

The carriage in the pictures is Mark VII as are table two and the L shaped extension table.
On the Mark VII the extension table can be used in those sockets in the side of the main table as well as in the regular location in the pivot end casting.
It probably didn't have the rubber positioning ring with it because the Mark VII used an adjustable rod and lock to return to the set position.
I have cut those rubber rings from auto radiator hose stock and as I have them apart for anything I intend to place one on each way tube as protection from forgetting to lock the headstock before swinging it to vertical.

I was all ready to tell him what tables etc were what, but Farmer beat me to it(In a lot fewer words I might add!)
Heed Mickyd's warning. The VII stop is similar to his early Greenie.
The stop ring will work with a 500 carriage - do not think it will work with the VII carriage. I do not recall if you showed a pix of a 500 carriage, but if you have one use it! You can save the VII carriage and use it iff needed in the future!
Re 500/505/510/520 The original mark 5 had a small table, This became a model V 500 when ss inc. introduced the 505. The 505 was larger and increased the distance from the end of the quill when fully retracted into the headstock and the saw slot in the table. This required the way tube spacer(bumper) and the arbors to be lengthened.
The 510 and 520 are upgraded designs of the table and fence. The 510 changed the fence and how it is aligned to the table as well as adding 'floating' tables.
The 520 changed the fence and the rails all these tables.
P.S. I looked again at your FIRST pix. You have the 500 carriage on the waytubes. The ring should be correct.(504165)
