This is probably the same Mike Young who ran "afoul" with Shopsmith a couple of years ago, also with some type of promotion on eBay.
A woodworking forum for woodworking hobbyist and woodworking projects related and unrelated to the Shopsmith MARK V

Sounds intriguing...details please =)8iowa wrote:This is probably the same Mike Young who ran "afoul" with Shopsmith a couple of years ago, also with some type of promotion on eBay.
Incredible financing usually translates to low payments with front loaded interest forever. This is just exactly what this country and those of us who live here DO NOT NEED.Ed in Tampa wrote:While I agree Shopsmith needs exposure putting them in a Big Box selling for $3500+ beside $499 table saws, $199 Drill presses and $400 Lathes is not the exposure Shopsmith needs.
Secondly check with your friendly Big Box tool clerk and find out how often they actually sell a Table Saw or Drill press. Almost never! If you haven't noticed Home Depot now makes all their stationary tools special orders because it wasn't worth stocking them.
Shopsmith needs to market to the impulse buyer and you find them in the shopping malls, county fairs and such. Another idea would be to put Nick on TV demo'ing a SS with an 800 number. Run the show Saturday mornings on the PBS and DYI channels and as ad slots in sport shows.
Then they need to come up with some really incredable financing.
You ain't going to sell Shopsmiths at $3500+ to people that are trying to save $50 by doing the work themselves. Not when they can see an alternative sitting there for 1/10 the price.
