How long should I wait to plane rough sawn lumber?

Calculate the BF you have on hand and then show her the cost of maple per BF. I think she'll let you hang on to it. I have some maple scraps from my dad that were left over from a bowling alley renovation in the late fifties. He had them stored in an attic space forever and since I inherited them I have been using them as needed on different projects. 1" X 1" and some 1" X 3/4" S4S approximately 2ft long. I must have 20 sticks of this stuff still around, I was asked the same question and I showed my wife how much maple cost, she just "oh, I guess you should hang on to it then."

Are you out of your mind!!!!

She'd bundle up every board, stick, splinter, and have every ounce of sawdust glued together overnight and have it on ebay before I'd be finished in the toilet the next morning.

I usually don't use four letter words, but in this case let me share a few of her most oftenly used phrases:

yard sale, cash, coin, toss, burn, camp fire wood, ebay, sell, IKEA......

There wasn't any mold or mildew on it after you took it out of the garage was there? Green maple sawed in the summer has a bad habit of molding if the air flow is not right. I have sawed a lot of maple and I had one guy stack 3000+ board foot in his garage even so I told him what may happen and it was fire wood the next year. Some of the boards turn black for the mildew

Nop, before being permanently evicted from the garage, mama personally oversaw the re-decoration of the sticked maple. TWICE!!

At first I wasn't sure if she just wanted the left side or then the right side of the garage

(before taking the whole darn thing).

So now, I never complain about how the living room furniture is arranged. It is so much quicker and easier than moving lumber.

Oh yeah... no mold.

I had a couple small fans blowing through the stack; and vented the garage roof to allow incoming air from the floor and out going through the top.
