Bandsaw Question

I am sure it can be done, but like another poster, I think your tooth speed is the biggest problem to overcome. Don't be enthusiastic in your cutting rate. You'll very easily damage the teeth if they are moving too fast.

Personally, I wouldn't like doing it. Between the cutting oils and the metal shavings everywhere. I just don't like working wood and metal on the same machines, or even in the same shop area. I try to keep them seperated.

But, I know of no inherent reason a ShopSmith bandsaw couldn't cut metal with a metal cutting blade on it.

I have never heard of using a band saw for tool steel, start by talking to blade manufactures to see if they can handle tool steels and find out what speed they recomend.
